Overview

Hampton Lumber is looking for a North Cascades Area Manager due to an upcoming retirement. In this role, the ideal candidate will provide leadership to the staff and be responsible for the overall management of timberland operations on 93,640 acres. The position is based out of the Sedro Woolley, Washington office location.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that forest operations in the North Cascades Management Area comply with the principles and standards of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI).
  • Perform all duties by Hampton’s safety program.
  • Develop short and long-term harvest plans for the Management Area.
  • Developed, coordinated, and administrated the annual budget for the management area.
  • Support the implementation of harvesting and road-building schedules, including permitting, layout, supervision, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support the negotiation of contracts with the approval of the Timberland Manager.
  • Ensure log quality from the stump to the mill.
  • Represent the company's interests on committees, councils, and advocacy opportunities.
  • Assist with land acquisition projects.
  • Help develop forester’s skills as well as provide time for development and other resource management needs.

Qualifications

  • Excellent PC skills using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Proven customer service skills, negotiation skills, and related verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the lumber and log industry is required
  • Continue education for professional improvement

Education: 

This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in forest-related disciplines or a related natural resources field and at least 5 years of demonstrated field, administrative, and supervisory experience.
