OT Engineering Internship - Willamina, OR Summer 2024

Hampton Lumber is a family-owned forest products business headquartered in Portland, Oregon, employing about 1,600 people primarily in Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia. Hampton owns approximately 140,000 acres of U.S. timberland, managed on a sustainable basis, certified through the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, and nine sawmills in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia with normal lumber production capacity in excess of 2.2 billion board feet.

Hampton Lumber’s internship program is tailored for the intern to be mentored and guided by an individual supervisor in their area of career aspiration. The structure of the internship will allow for interns to gain experience and take ownership of specific projects that further their education and knowledge in their respective fields, while also networking with industry professionals. This is an Internship for the summer of 2024 no benefits for this position.

OT Engineering Intern (Based out of Willamina, OR)

The Engineering Intern will work alongside and be mentored by professional Engineers, Electricians, Technicians, and other mill professionals. Our internships are structured as entry-level opportunities that expose participants to marketable skills and build proficiencies in a variety of manufacturing disciplines. Interns will be assigned specific projects to work on for the duration of their time, but will also be included in a number of day-to-day activities being worked on by the engineering team.

2+ years of college with a 3.0 + GPA in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline (or comparable industry experience)

• Must be able to work with a team
• Good Communication
• Strong research skills
• Organization skills
• Looking for someone who is a critical thinker
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills

Knowledge of:

• Ethernet subnet, VLAN, routing, gateways, switching, routers
• Network Architecture
• NIST Cybersecurity framework
• Ethernet packet capture and analysis
• VNC and RDP remote desktop access in a zero-trust environment
• User authentication models

Must be available for the three-month duration of the internship beginning in June 2024

Preferred candidates will have completed at least two years of college courses.
