Overview

This position will be responsible for the planning and execution of road construction and road maintenance activities across  Hampton Lumber’s 94,640 acre land base to support management and harvest operations, with a focus on safety, environmental stewardship, cost, and administration of contract road construction and maintenance crews. This Job is a full-time position offering a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package based out of the Sedro Wooley office.

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in planning and executing road building projects including permitting, layout and supervision for the assigned management Area.
  • Assist in harvesting operations including permitting, layout and supervision.
  • Assist in the development of short and long-term harvest plans for the assigned management Area.
  • Ensure that Hampton’s forest road building operations in the assigned management area comply with the principles and standards of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)
  • Negotiates contracts with the approval of the VP Of Resources or Timberland Manager
  • Represent the company as directed on various committees or councils.
  • Assist with land acquisition projects (assists with tours when appropriate)
  • Help develop newer forester’s field skills as well as encourage them to provide time for other resource needs; inventory cruising, acquisitions, and young stand projects.

Qualifications

  • Excellent PC skills using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Proven customer service skills, negotiation skills, and related verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the lumber and log industry is required
  • Continue education for professional improvement

Education:  This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Forest related disciplines, or a related natural resources field, and at least 5 years of demonstrated field, administrative and supervisory experience.

 

Work Conditions:  The work setting will consist of both field work and office work.
