Overview

Hampton Lumber is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in our corporate office located in Portland, Oregon. This individual will play an integral part in ensuring transactions are processed accurately and timely, and communicating with vendors and other groups within the company when issues arise. We are looking for an individual who is detail-oriented, organized, and possesses strong communication and customer service skills. This position will report directly to the Corporate Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Setup vendor invoices for payment with correct due dates and proper GL coding
  • Respond to vendor and internal customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
  • Scanning and indexing of all invoices and backup information into the document imaging system
  • Process check, EFT, wire runs daily by required cutoff times, including the upload of positive pay and EFT files to banks, to ensure all payments are made on-time
  • Management may modify, add or reallocate job responsibilities to better accommodate the needs of the business

Qualifications

  • Able to perform all recurring functions independently
  • Proactive attitude, willingness to work in a team environment, and commitment to provide a high level of customer service required
  • Computer skills required include working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Outlook, with competency in Microsoft Excel
  • Willingness to learn and become familiar with Dynamics Great Plains, SpendMap, and DocuWare.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and confident decision making required
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail required, with excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of accuracy and efficiency

Education and Training Required:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (some college or accounting classes a plus, but not required)
  • Prior AP experience with purchasing software using three-way matching and/or Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred but not required
