Overview

The shipping / receiving coordinator’s primary responsibility will be inventory control and movement of inbound / outbound products. The coordinator must verify correct tallies for railcar and truck shipments, answer phones, order supplies, and keep the workplace clean and orderly. The coordinator also provides support to Hampton Lumber Sales Traders and Sales Assistants. This position reports directly to the Reload Manager

Responsibilities

  • Receive all inbound railcars, trucks, containers, and produce inventory tags on arrival. Stock to be received within 24 hours of arrival.
  • Assign tags to outbound truck shipments, print BOL, and complete orders.
  • Review outbound orders to ensure inventory is available and release shipments when required.
  • Create a tagged inventory for Consignment vendors and release orders to meet customers’ requests.
  • Track, record, and invoice daily Consignment vendor’s service charges to include unloading, loading, freight, and work orders.
  • Maintain inventory and calculate storage charges for the 1st of each month for both HLS and Consignment customers.
  • Track and record daily charges for the reload STAT sheet.
  • Handle inbound phone calls from customers, vendors, sales, and trucking companies.
  • Communicate with sales/sales assistants to ensure accurate information for inbound/outbound shipments and work orders.
  • Help sales with inventory questions.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of office supplies.
  • Must be willing to assist with daily operations as needed.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and/or any shift work as necessary.
  • Management may modify, add, or reallocate job responsibilities to better accommodate the needs of the business.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent PC skills using Microsoft products.
  • Proven customer service skills and related verbal & written communication skills
  • Attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills, a high degree of accuracy, and efficiency
  • Knowledge of the lumber industry is preferred but not required
  • Maintain high personal and professional standards of focus, attention, and dedication to work
  • Continue education for professional improvement

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Two (2) years of background in lumber distribution, understanding of the tagged inventory system
  • College Degree preferred, but not required
