Hampton Lumber is a thriving family-owned company aspiring to be North America's preferred source for responsibly-sourced wood solutions. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, we operate nine sawmills in Western Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. We also manage timberland and operate a wholesale and import/export division.

The Procurement Forester is responsible for purchasing high-quality timber to support mill operations.  This includes building relationships with local suppliers, landowners, loggers and timber dealers.

• Ensure all logs are sustainably sourced and all suppliers adhere to Best Management Practices
• Purchase delivered wood from suppliers
• Perform field visits and audits to align log specs with mill needs
• Coordinate with the Procurement Manager on wood flow and log mix
• Communicates daily with scalers
• Support mill safety and improvement initiatives

Required

• Strong relationship building and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple suppliers and tracts
• Knowledgeable in
• Log pricing and appraisals
• BMP compliance
• SFI standards
• Strong planning, coordination and analytical skills

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field
• 3+ years procurement experience
• Knowledge of local contractors and markets
• Basic understanding of sawmill operations
